Current availability

The current public candidate is a macOS preview. Windows, iOS, Android, and all app-store builds remain in preparation and are not represented as released or supported. The App is a supplementary theft-deterrence tool and does not guarantee prevention, detection, or notification delivery. Test it on your own device and in your own environment before operational use.

Helpful details include:

• MUGSHOT version and where you obtained it
• OS, OS version, and device model
• the action taken, expected result, and actual result
• reproduction steps and error messages with personal data removed

Do not send a passcode, ntfy topic, evidence photo, signing key, personal data, or another person’s device data. We will not ask for your passcode or ntfy topic.

Safety and data

• The siren can be loud. On Android, macOS, and Windows the App may temporarily change system output volume for an alarm and attempts to restore it; either operation can fail and other apps may be affected. iOS system volume is not changed. Keep it away from ears and headphones, and test safe volume and restoration first.
• Monitoring works only while the App is running; it does not continue or resume automatically after quit, forced termination, shutdown, or restart.
• Camera use requires explicit opt-in. While armed, its camera session remains active even though the settings preview stops, so the OS camera indicator may remain visible; one still photo may be saved locally on a supported breach. Public builds do not transmit photos. Check facility rules and third-party privacy and likeness rights.
• Enabling ntfy text notifications lets an external service process the topic, body, IP address, and related metadata. See the Privacy Policy.
• The current version has no single all-data deletion screen. Delete available settings and custom audio individually and review OS permissions, backups, and Keychain or equivalent storage.

Security issues

For a suspected vulnerability, do not post details in a general request or public issue. Use the private channel in our Security Policy or security.txt.
